FAQs
What glides come with the Zipper™?
The Zipper™ comes with a hole glide in the back port and a slot glide in the front port. A hole glide must always go in the back. We recommend purchasing a hybrid glide for carpets that tend to chatter such as olefin or cheap glue down carpets to eliminate the chatter. All of the glides reverse for added use. Replacement glides can be purchase for $125.00 ea. or 2/$225.00.
What Zipper™will work best with my machine and cleaning needs?
Please give us a call. We would be happy to answer any questions you have and help you decide which Zipper™ is best for your company. We have various size models and multiple flow rate options available.
Why did I receive hemostats, 1/8” allen wrench, & an ¼” t-handle allen wrench with my Zipper™?
The hemostats are used to remove hair and debris from the glides. The 1/8” allen wrench is used to remove the screws from the glide retainers and for removing debris obstructing the holes in the glide. The ¼” t-handle allen wrench is used for the wheel adjustment lock screw and to remove many fasteners located on the Zipper™.
What is the wood dowel rod for that came with my Zipper™?
The wood dowel rod is used to help remove the glides from the vacuum ports. To remove the glides, simply remove the screws holding the glide retainers. Use the wood dowel rod along with a hammer to safely remove the glides from the vacuum ports. Be sure to use the flat side of the dowel rod on the glide each time your remove them, never use the side previously hit with the hammer. We recommend removing the glides periodically to remove hair and debris that collects over time.
Why is it important to clean the filter assembly located at the end of the rubber lead solution line-hose?
There is a filter screen located inside the filter assembly. The filter screen must be cleaned occasionally to maintain proper flow rate. The screen will clog over time and minimize the performance of your tool
Do I need a straight or tall-boy handle for my Zipper™?
The straight handle is recommend for users under 6’4”. If you are 6’4” or taller, we would recommend the tall-boy handle for easier maneuverability. It comes standard on the Zipper™ SS model and is available for an additional $100.00 for any other model.
Do I need to adjust the height of my Zipper™ when cleaning commercial or residential carpeting?
The Zipper™ will arrive with the wheels set to clean commercial glue down carpet. The height must be adjusted to clean any other carpet type. Please refer to the Height Adjustment video on our Website to properly adjust the wheels.
Can I use a portable machine to operate a Zipper™?
Yes, we would recommend a 13” Zipper™ with a 5 flow. For optimal performance, we would suggest a portable with a minimum of 500 psi, dual 3-stage vac motors, and preferably an auto pump out.
Would you recommend the straight manifold Zipper™ or the Zipper™ SS?
If you are cleaning larger homes and commercial carpet, we would recommend the straight manifold Zipper™. If you are cleaning primarily dirty grimy carpets such as restaurants and movie theaters, we would recommend the Zipper™ SS. The straight manifold Zipper™ is a more versatile tool and gets under beds and cubicles with ease. The Zipper™ SS requires a larger TM to run effectively and involves more maintenance to operate properly.
